Each strand extracted from the Organ score of Dietrich Buxtehude's Praeludium in G Minor (BuxWV148), gives for an altogether atmospheric and evocative edge to the Clarinet Quartet, especially when performed in a descent sized venue.
Don't forget that Bach walked 250 miles from his home town of Arnstadt to see old Buxtehude play in Lubeck! That must have been some gig!!
