The electricity was out and I sat at the piano wondering if I could introduce the Alberti-bass pattern to beginners. I wanted them to play the pattern on its own but also wanted the right hand to play a like-able melody. So I had the left had play the pattern without any significant right hand notes, then let the right hand play the melody with no left hand. I also used the Lydian mode so it would take on a John Williams flavor. My students seem to like it!
