And while he studied in Chicago and later moved to Tin Pan Alley in New York to work as a composer, music retains a midwestern flavor. He wrote WHEN YOU WORE A TULIP AND I WORE A BIG RED ROSE for his wife, vaudeville performer Dolly Connolly, with lyrics by Jack Mahoney. This orchestration is by Timothy Broege.
