All four stanzas of this time-honored hymn are painted colorfully to match the texts in both the accompaniment and vocal lines. The optional horn obbligato only adds to the richness of the overall texture. After an opening unison stanza, stanza 2 is a duet between the men and women. Women sing stanza 3 in a minor key followed by the commitment stanza's majestic SATB voicing. Horn in F part included.
