By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Frank Stubbs. This edition: pdf. 20th Century, Children, Film/TV, Instructional, Pop. 22 pages. Frank Stubbs #1057768. Published by Frank Stubbs (A0.1480437).
Paul McCartney wrote the lyrics for this piece when he was around 14 years old, though it wasn't recorded for another 10 years and appeared on the album Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Written in a cabaret style, as this is where Paul thought he'd be a performer.....not realising Rock n Roll was around the corner. It has a 1920's jazz feel to it and suits the Brass Quintet arrangement well.
This arrangement would be a great addition to any Brass Quintets repertoire. It isn't over complicated and would work well with each musician muted to give it that old time recording feel. I surgest Trumpet 1 use Solo Tone mute if available and Trumpet 2 use Harmon (also if available). Play around with mutes until you feel you have a good combination. This would be a fantastic idea to use in a School demonstration to showcase the use of mutes.
