What Child Is This?" is intended to serve as a solid Christmas parade tune that can be learned quickly and sounds good even with limited instrumentation. At just around 1:10 in length, this holiday favorite contains heavy doubling of parts, music for both three bass drums and four bass drums, and a part 1 and 2 for trombones and baritones. The optional tambourine part for extra players adds energy to the song, but the percussion works well even if the tambourine is not available.
