Here is one of the classics of the Swing Era! Composed and arranged by Sy Oliver in 1942 for the Tommy Dorsey band, this was written to showcase Tommy on trombone, Jimmy Dorsey on clarinet, and brilliant high note trumpet specialist Ziggy Ellman. While this is best-known for the trumpet battle (between trumpets 1 & 2) this arrangement also features outstanding writing. There are interesting backgrounds, brilliantly syncopated melodic sections, and interesting voicings. Solos are featured for trombone, clarinet (on alto sax 2), and trumpets 1 & 2. This publication is based on the original set of parts and is not a record copy transcription. This is one of Sy Oliver's finest arrangements and the challenge your band has been looking for!
