"We Break the Bread" is an ingenious blend for choir and keyboard of two works by master composers: the well-known NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT ("Now Thank We All Our God") by Johann Cruger and Felix Mendelssohn's "Verleih' uns Frieden." For use at communion, arranger Patrick M. Liebergen has combined his new words for Mendelssohn's music with the translation of the original German words "Nun danket" based on Catherine Winkworth's classic version.
