Durch alle Chorsparten ist seine Musik bekannt und beliebt. Und dochhat Mendelssohn kaum fur Fraunenchöre geschrieben, obwohl entsprechende Ensembles bereits zu seinen Lebzeichen im 19. Jahrhundert inder Chorlandschaft ein Rolle spielen. Fur die vorliegende Sammlung hat sich Pascal Martine deshalb des Kunstgriffs der Bearbeitung bedient. Als Vorlage dienten Mendelssohns Gesange fur zwei Frauenstimmen und Klavier, die er auf drei Frauenstimmen erweitert hat. Dabei ist die hinzugefugte Stimme so konzipiert, dass die romantische Stimmführung berücksichtigt und Mendelssohns jeweilige Satztechnik logisch erweitert wurde. Die originale Klavierbegleitung wurde beibehalten und tragt so zum liedhaften Charakter dieser Chorbearbeitungen bei.
