Composed by Georg Mertens. 20th Century,Concert,New Age,World. Individual part. 6 pages. Georg Mertens #3507997. Published by Georg Mertens (A0.790839).

A 12 year old Japanese student helped me translating the titles of my 2 volume Japanese traditional song collection. I said: "Sakura is the most famous Japanese song, and it is such a sad song!" - "No, it is a happy song!" she said, "it is about you sit at a lake, the day's work is all done, and you can relax. Then the cherry blossoms fall silently into the lake, and you just sit and watch. That's very, very happy!" It went through my mind that she as a 12 year old described what I knew from books: searching for happiness.
I never forgot her statement and when I had to perform for a Japanese tourist groups I wrote these variations.
Here a video in the setting it was composed for (inside Jjenolan Caves): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXyFQ0uyhrw
