Variations on a Marching Tune is a short composition for middle school bands based on a simple rounded binary tune inspired by--but not resembling--Percy Grainger’s Children’s March (Over the Hills and Far Away).
The piece consists of a theme followed by 2 variations and lasts slightly over two minutes in performance. Brief drum cadences separate the three sections.
