Urbanscape - Clarinet Quartet Clarinet Quartet - Sheet Music
Urbanscape was commissioned by Albion Clarinet Varier from Nagasaki, as one of the sequel series of "Études d'exécution transcendante." Skyscrapers, bicycles, automobiles, people…the complex integration of different elements creates an urban life. Though there are many tempi with XX/16 beat, all rhythms are either 2+3 or 3+2. It is best to see the full score for reference. Give close attention to accents that appear throughout and perform them boldly. The bass clarinet part might be a bit challenging; I wrote it in a way to embrace the wide range of sound and tone colors. The BC is often the player behind the scenes, so here's a chance to enhance the best features of that instrument.
