Solo tpt (or opt. alto), alto/tenor/bari saxes, 2 tpt, 1 tbn, guitar, piano, bass, drums. Medium tempo swing feel with "broken swing" interludes. Tempo: mm=182-188. Tpt range: C#. Originally written for the edition of Art Bakely's Jazz Messengers featuring Freddie Hubbard and Wayne Shorter. This modern jazz classic has a strong melodic line and flowing chord changes that are unusual, but not difficult. Also has piano/guitar solo - other solos are easily worked in as well. Interlude and ending have solo instrument and ensemble tenor improvising together over ensemble.
