Composed by Marie Clemence de Grandval. Score and Parts. Imagine Music Publishing #PDP212. Published by Imagine Music Publishing (IG.PDP212).
9 x 12 in inches.
Two More Pieces for English Hom and Piano (Lamento and Final) are actually the first and last of four pieces Grandval composed for her good friend Georges Gillet (1854-1920) and have never before been published. The other two, Valse and Andante espressivo were published as 1886 as Two Pieces for English Hom and Piano (Prelude and Valse lent) and have been reissued by Prairie Dawg Press (PDP 162). These further two pieces should make a welcome addition to the current repertoire of English Hom compositions from this era. The holographs of all four pieces are part of the Duvoir Collection. Alexandre Duvoir (1889-1979) was a French oboist who studied with Gillet in Paris before immigrating to the United States. He performed for many years with the Minneapolis Symphony and taught at the University of Minnesota before moving to Los Angeles and working with the RKO Studio Orchestra.
