SKU: A0.749658

Composed by Arcangelo Corelli, George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Slapin. Arranged by Slapin-Solomon Duo. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Concert,Folk. Score and parts. 124 pages. Violacentric Publications #4595207. Published by Violacentric Publications (A0.749658).

Includes some of the most famous Christmas Carols and Baroque pieces of the season (Bach, Handel, Corelli). Intermediate-advanced level. Scores and parts included. See table of contents for all pieces included in this book.

NOTE: While some of these works can easily be sightread, there are several that are meant to sound much fuller than your average 2-line transcription so they may be a bit more difficult with added double stops, etc. Much work was put into these to give both players great parts (not just a bass line in the cello part, etc).

Excerpts from the book can be heard on the video.

High Quality Arrangements
My husband and I are really enjoying these duets. They are tricky - we are Grade-8-thirty-years-ago and things-have-slipped-rather-since-then kind of musicians - but these arrangements are worth brushing off our double-stopping skills for. The music has been arranged by a professional string duo, and you can really tell, as it is fun, interesting and musically satisfying to play. Recommended!

Fun and tricky!
I bought these for a duo gig last year, and I can't wait to use them again this year. They are well-written, full-sounding, fun to play duets. Some are sight readable, some aren't. If you're a professional who's bored with the usual duets, get a copy of these, you won't regret it!

Full sounding duos
I see another review about these duos being difficult. Yes, they are rated at intermediate-advanced. Yes, there are doublestops in many of them. They are not meant for beginners. They are really full sounding parts, as opposed to many other duos which are one line each and usually the cello (or bottom part) gets only a bass line. So these are much more interesting for the players and therefore, yes, more difficult as well. I believe this is explained in the description.

Twenty-Five Tunes for Twenty-Five Days of Christma
We were disappointed in a lot of these arrangements. It almost seems as if someone had transcribed the top two voices from a piano score to the violin part, and the bottom two to the cello part. This results in a lot of double stops and is very difficult to play musically.
