Turandot is an opera by Giacomo Puccini set in ancient China. The story follows Princess Turandot who has sworn never to marry unless a suitor can answer three riddles, and those who fail are executed. When Calaf arrives in Beijing and falls in love with Turandot at first sight, he decides to try his luck and solve the riddles. With the help of a servant girl named Liu, Calaf succeeds but offers Turandot a challenge of guessing his name before sunrise. The opera reaches its dramatic conclusion as the characters confront their own desires and fears.
This dramatic 6-minute arrangement by Randall Malmstrom which includes the monumental aria Nessun Dorma is for 8-part Trombone ensemble of advanced performers including an optional Contrabass on part 8. A strong player (or doubled-up) is needed on part 1.
