Deze fantasierijke ‘speelgoedsuite’ heeft vier delen. In Poppen en marionetten worden de poppen verklankt in een opgewekt tempo en de marionetten in een wals. Het poppenhuis is langzamer en zangeriger. In De trein horenwe de stoommachine, de stoomfluit en het geroezemoes van een uitstapje in de wereld van de verbeelding. Dan horen we in Het tinnen soldaatje voetstappen in de verte die steeds dichterbij komen, het ritme van de trommels,het energieke geluid van het leger… Daar verschijnt het soldatenbataljon! Gehuld in uniform en in rechte rijen marcheren ze in een perfect ritme.

Toyland Suite versetzt Musiker und Zuhörer in eine wunderbare Welt voll Spiel, Aufregung, Harmonie, Träumereien und Spaß. Die Puppen und Marionetten kommen im ersten Satz flott und im Walzertakt einher, das Puppenhaus wird etwas langsamer und cantabile beschrieben, im dritten Satz fährt ein Zug pfeifend und ratternd durch eine Fantasielandschaft und im vierten Satz marschiert ein ganzes Bataillon Zinnsoldaten mit Musik und Trommeln auf.
