Melodic lines inspired by Medieval plainchant weave in and out of polyphonic and homophonic textures within a contemporary harmonic idiom to unite the ages in this new SATB a cappella setting of three ancient Latin canticles from the opening chapters of the Gospel of Luke. They are traditionally sung at prayer services known as the Lauds or Liturgy of the Hours. They are also suitable for non-liturgical church performance as well as concert repertoire.
The three canticles, with their locations on the audio track, are:
Benedictus - Morning Office (Matins) 0:00
Magnificat - Evening Office (Vespers) 6:12
Nunc Dimittus - Night Office (Compline) 11:55
Besides this set, each canticle is also available individually.
