Composed by Stanley M. Hoffman. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 59 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #3911819. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.924811).

This setting of the set of thirteen poems of the same name by Wallace Stevens (1879-1955) was a winner of a 1984-85 BMI Student Composers Award. The poems were first published in 1917 in the journal Others and are in the public domain. The music is unabashedly atonal, featuring numerous musical subtleties in the vocal and string writing. Aside from singing, the vocalist is also required to perform Sprechstimme and spoken words. Even the string players perform some vocal sound effects. The effect is simultaneously austere and delightful. Duration: 15:00.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
