This music “The Woodpecker” is composed by Belgian Romantic era concert pianist, piano teacher, Jean Louis Gobbaerts(Gobbaerts spelled backwards Streabbog) (28 September 1835 – 5 May 1886). Popular and successful in his own day, Gobbaerts published over 1200 piano compositions. This work is an interesting piece depicting the scene of a woodpecker pecking at a tree, and it was arranged as a string quartet with educational hopes.
