Composed by Peter Cornelius. Arranged by David Herman. Christian,Christmas,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. David Herman #6471947. Published by David Herman (A0.940594).

This famous song for Epiphany was one of Peter Cornelius's Christmas Songs (Weihnachtslieder), Op. 8, written in 1856.  The original piano accompaniment contains the chorale "How Brightly Shines the Morning Star" (Wie schoen leuchtet der Morgenstern).  In this arrangement the solo voice is joined with a new accompaniment (for organ or keyboard) and a treble instrument playing the chorale melody.  (Parts for both C and B-Flat instruments are available at no charge from the composer (herman@udel.edu).)  This fresh setting (for unison choir or solo voice) brings new life to a treasured song of the Wise Men traveling to the manger.
