Composed by Robert Chamberlin. 20th Century. Score and parts. 6 pages. Robert Chamberlin #5196191. Published by Robert Chamberlin (A0.917297).

"The Song of Joe" is based on one of the stories from Carl Sandburg's "Rootabaga Stories."  Three boys share a secret unfulfilled ambition of riding the railroad.  When this unfulfilled ambition made them sad, they would sing "The Song of Joe."  This musical setting of Sandburg's text has the three boys (TTB) singing from the stage and Joe (T) singing off stage.  Instruments include piano, slide whistle, train whistle, and sand block.  The parts for the three boys can be simply a trio or can be sung with a larger ensemble.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
