The Sea Around Us Dedicated to Rachel Carson Concert Band - Sheet Music

Commissioned by Kawagoe Sowa Wind Ensemble for its 40th anniversary. The rough sea that cuts continents, the calm sea like a woman's hand, the sea of silence with no sound, how much do we know about this sea? Isn't humanity so ignorant about this ocean, the largest mother and father of life on the Earth? The composition began with that thought. The form of the sea that changes in various ways, its origin that no one knows, the remarkable life that the sea nurtures, and the future of the sea and humanity are expressed in their own image. Please listen to this most important sea that can be considered the very life of humanity. "The world that man shares with all other creatures, and who are even now fighting thousands of small battles that in the end will bring victory for sanity and common-sense in our accommodation of the world that surrounds us." (Yuichi Abe) **Rachel Carson, writer, scientist, and ecologist, grew up simply in the rural river town of Springdale, Pennsylvania.
