This is the most serious and useful collection yet published of solo arias from oratorios, masses and cantatas. The literature is confined to work by major composers, and by-passes the dated oratorio literature found in previous collections. The most famous music is here, and so is interesting and less famous music by masters. There are new music engravings for each aria, and extensive historical notes and translations. Solo instrumental obbligato parts, which can be cut from the book, are included on appropriate selections.

Solid Resource for Intermediate Students
This anthology is an excellent addition for serious intermediate to advanced soprano students. The new music engravings make for clear reading, which is crucial for tackling Baroque and Classical rhythm and phrasing. While the 'medium-difficult to difficult' level requires dedication, the historical notes and translations offer great teaching points. A highly useful collection for developing vocal technique and understanding stylistic nuances.

Fulfilling Challenge for Oratorio Lovers!
I absolutely love this collection! As an adult learner, I'm finding the 'medium-difficult to difficult' pieces a rewarding challenge. It's so fulfilling to work through these beautiful Baroque and Classical oratorio arias by 'Various' masters. The authentic arrangements for piano and voice really make you feel like you're performing the real thing. Highly recommend for passionate hobbyists seeking growth!

Indispensable for Soprano Coaching
This anthology is a top-tier resource for any collaborative pianist or vocal coach working with sopranos. The 'medium-difficult to difficult' settings provide substantial piano support, characteristic of Baroque and Classical styles, without merely doubling the vocal line. 'Extensive historical notes and translations' are invaluable for contextual understanding and coaching. An essential collection for a serious vocal studio.

The Vocal Library - Soprano
This is a good collection of standard oratorio arias for soprano. What a shame there is no accompaniment CD.

Oratorio Anthology - Soprano
Great music, awful type setting. The words are tiny and far from the notes. The measures are too spread out, necessitating huge amounts of page turns.

The Oratorio Anthrology
This is a very good book for those who love the sacred classics in their original language. Unlike other books that have the usual standards, many of the pieces here are the works of the Great Masters, Bach, Handel, etc. and some of the works are from the pre Baroque period. There is also at least one piece suited for the Coloratura Soprano. All in all I recommend this book.
