A transcription of the Sergio Mendes recording of this song from the album 'Look Around'. I have arranged for a jazz ensemble which includes strings and vocalists. The vocal part was interesting to transcribe as the rhythmic subtlety and placement of the ends of the words/diction punctuate to add character, one of the few times I have gone into great detail to recreate a facsimile of this. To think that this was performed sometimes with unison vocalists, singing the lead line is impressive. It is always cool watching the footage from the Herb Alpert show, Jerry Lewis etc to see what effortlessly cool looks like. I will be performing this with full orchestra in November 2025 so a full arrangement including Nord keyboard Strings reduction and adding more instruments to give more opportunity for instrumentalists to perform some of Sergio's classics.
