The first half of the piece asks this question from different choral voices with a Middle Eastern flavor. Christ answers the question in the 2nd half of the anthem in a rich tone, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." The piece is scored for SATB chorus with occasional divisi and organ. The divisi may be pared down as needed.
