THE FEEDING is a sermon song based on the sermon preached by Dr. Paul de Jong on October 8, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church Fort Myers, Florida using the text of Mark 6: 30-56. It uses the music, previously published as " I"m Hungry." The piece for solo and guitar was first composed in 1965 after I witnessed such terrible hunger on a mission observation tour of Haiti. Those words were printed in "The Baptist Leader." A letter to the editor of Time Magazine on the same topic was published in the same year.  This current composition tells in detail the story of the feeding of the five thousand. It emphasizes that beside the resurection, this is the only miracle of Jesus that appears in all four gospels. The lyrics try to portray how allarmed are the disciples and yet how confident is Jesus.
