These series of books provide a means of retelling and underscoring the message and meaning of the appointed texts for each Sunday in a way that gives the worshippers a personal opportunity to express and retain them in their hearts and minds. Hence these rhymed (poetic) verses which are to be sung to frequently used hymn tunes and meters that are familiar to the majority of members of the various Lutheran denominations. The language is purposely simple in order that the meaning may be easily grasped. The texts flow out of the NIV translations of the appointed Epistle and Gospel Lessons for the Three-Year Lectionary as given in the various Lutheran Worship Books. A suggested tune is given with each text with a specific hymn number reference to a hymnal. The text meter is also given should a tune other than the one suggested be desired. A quick check with the hymn tune meter index in any hymnbook will list other music possibilities.
