Composed by Robert Chamberlin. Christian,Christmas. Score and parts. 7 pages. Robert Chamberlin #4896519. Published by Robert Chamberlin (A0.917288).

"The Child is a Song" was composed in 1994 and is dedicated to Dawn Schuessler and the handbell choir of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO. The premiere performance of this piece happened that year on Christmas Eve, performed by singer/songwriter and guitarist Peter Mayer, accompanied by piano and two members of the Gethsemane handbell choir playing on bell trees to accommodate the ostinato patterns. This version is for piano and tenor voice, with optional handbells. If handbells are used, they should duplicate the right hand piano part at m. 16 – 28, m. 53 – 54, and m. 59 – 64. These measures have been marked on the score with an * sign.  The sound clip attached is a digital track which is not ideal since the lyrics are not "sung" by the digital tenor.  Hopefully, this does not detract from the overall score.
