Composed by Frith, John. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 72 pages. Gordon Cherry #4803811. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792281).

"THE BIG TOP", is a twelve minute work in eight movements for Brass Quintet inspired by the excitement, thrill and expectation of the circus. Although Mr. Frith has never attended a circus personally, the magic of them was conveyed to him through television shows and films he watched as a boy.

In 2009 he added to the first movement, "Circus Clowns", which was composed years before and arranged the entire suite for Brass Quintet.

The eight movements are titled as follows:

1. CIRCUS CLOWNS
2. THE TRICK CYCLIST
3. PEEP-SHOW PRINCESS
4. ELEPHANTS ON PARADE
5. BARE-BACK RIDER
6. TRAPEZE ARTIST
7. THE TUMBLERS
8. GRAND FINALE
