Composer Peter Schindler on this separate edition from "Perpetuum mobile":

"Tempus est iocundum" (This is the joyful time) is the name of this lyrical hymn to the joys of love. The audience is invited to share in the emotional experience. The original erotic love song has eight rhythmic verses, which all focus on the exuberance and intensity of freshly blossoming love, painting it as a time of shared joy. Originally, the piece on text no. 179 from the Codex Buranus was certainly a carefree dance song.

This is the peak of the amorous part of Peter Schindler's "Perpetuum mobile". The music is inspired by Latin jazz, which is certainly designed to encourage dancing. Text passages such as "totus floreo" (I’m in full bloom) and "iam pereo" (I fade away) create powerful images of the intensity of emotion and the feeling of surrender and devotion. A song for an evening of love songs.
