The Year 1812, Solemn Overture, Op. 49, popularly known as the 1812 Overture, is a concert overture in Eâ™ major written in 1880 by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The piece commemorates Russia's successful defense against the French invasion of the nation in 1812.
So, a triumphant arrangement for cello orchestra was thought of with the addition of percussion such as timpani, tambourine, snare drum, crash cymbals, concert bass drum and bells, giving a triumphant glow during its execution.
About the arranger
Fillipe Mendel has been immersed in music since he was a child. Coming from a Portuguese family, he believes that music can and should tell a story and, as such, he is the composer and arranger of over hundreds of religious, classical and contemporary songs. Speaking of stories, he also often writes romantic suspense novels. He currently lives in Brazil, in the state of São Paulo.
