Tango for Glenn is a tribute to Glenn Gould, whose particular way of playing Bach on piano was so influential in its day. However, it's very much a joyful romp through a range of styles.
(The original piece was for piano; this arrangement was made for the local Xyris Saxophone quartet, whose excellent performance is linked below. The original piano piece is also available for sale at Sheet Music Plus).
The main theme is in 5/4 and it moves through a range of - mostly - irregular time-signatures, but uses a harmonic and melodic vocabluary strongly influenced by Bach, with lashings of some more jazzy language. There is a brief (two beat long) quote of Paul McCartney's song "Blackbird" used as thematic material in the second episode, the guitar part of which was also based on a piece by Bach.
This would make a fun concert or encore piece.
