Tangents was originally written as a solo for timpani and hi-hat and is available in that format. This version adds a percussion quartet to accompany the soloist, providing two performance options for the soloist. Instrumentation: 5 Timpani, hi-hat, bass drum, claves, vibra-slap, vibraphone, china cymbal, small cowbell, 4 concert toms, bongos, glockenspiel, xylophone, hand cymbals (pr.), tube shaker, small triangle, castanets, wah wah tube, tambourine, small shekere, snare drum, ride cymbal, high & low woodblocks, large cowbell, 2 congas (or substitute a djembe).
