Versatile for Accompaniment & Coaching
This Tadd Dameron collection is a solid resource for collaborative pianists. The lead sheets provide clear chord changes, allowing me to craft a supportive accompaniment for a vocalist or instrumentalist. Reliable for Gigs and Practice
Solid collection of Tadd Dameron tunes for the working musician. The lead sheets are clear and the chord symbols are accurate, making it easy to jump right into these jazz standards for a gig or rehearsal. The multi-instrument options are a plus for versatility. Excellent Resource for Jazz Students
This Hal Leonard Jazz Play-Along is a fantastic resource for my intermediate jazz students. The clear, musician-friendly lead sheets are excellent for reading and understanding jazz harmony. The included CD with split tracks – especially the removable bass and piano parts – really helps students develop their rhythm and ear training. The clean engraving makes it very approachable for study. Highly recommend for developing improvisational skills.

TADD DAMERON HL Jazz Play Along Vol 168
This review speaks for the entire series of Hal Leonard Jazz Play Along book/CD sets. I am pleased that there are two tracks per tune so one can listen to a pro in case there is any doubt as to style and inflection, etc. The background only tracks are excellent. Tempo is established and tracks are not too long so as to tire one out. Once in a while one finds a spotty arrangement, but another reviewer may disagree with this. The series encompasses styles from Coltrane to The Sound of Music so there is something for everybody. We learn by doing, and this series enables one to do even when no one else is around. Highly recommended!
