Sunrise depicts the birds and the colors seen at sunrise.
It was written at a time when the New Music Ensemble at my undergrad had players ranging from instrumental hobbyists to students studying their instruments for education degrees.
The difficulty is medium, bordering on the easy side as It needed to be functional and easy to put together. It also includes the unique aspect of using a bird whistle, usually thought of as a children’s toy, and the vocalist as an instrument rather than a primary soloist to illustrate the sunrise.
