The musical Miss Saigon has touched millions of hearts worldwide. This is partly due to the romantic, yet equally tragic, love story set in war-torn Vietnam during 1975, and partly to the emotional and engaging music by Claude-Michel Schönberg. Masamichi Amano’s medley for concert band combines the songs: The Heat Is on in Saigon, Kim and Chris, Dance, If You Want to Die in Bed and Bui-Doi.
De musical Miss Saigon wist wereldwijd een miljoenenpubliek te ontroeren. Deels lag dat aan de romantische en tegelijk tragische liefdesgeschiedenis die zich afspeelde in het door oorlog geteisterde Vietnam van 1975. Elle fut donnée 4264 reprises Londres entre 1989 et 1999, et est restée l’affiche Broadway pour plus de 4000 représentations. Il s’agit d’une fresque mélodramatique qui dépeint les développements douleureux d’une histoire d’amour entre un G.I. de l’armée américaine et une Vietnamienne durant les derniers jours de la Guerre du Vietnam.
