Composed by Brooke Richey. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 14 pages. Wasp & Fig Sounds #4821493. Published by Wasp & Fig Sounds (A0.1025506).

Built from a tone-row, Paradox goes to highlight the tensions and strains we experience when trying to work with one another. The piece begins with the voices of each instrument in separate octaves, far and distanced. Gradually throughout the piece the notes and rhythms move closer and closer together. By use of a palindrome a "paradox" takes place, bringing the voices to move together in support of one another, characterized with a solo on the viola. From here all voices join on the same motif to close in tight rhythmic movement and dissonant harmonies.
