The son of Charles, elder brother to Samuel, Charles Jnr. was also an organist and composer who spent much of his working life in the Royal household. This is the first of a set of six string quartets dedicated to William Boyce. Boyce once described Samuel as the 'English Mozart', his view of Charles is not recorded.
