This ballad from The Prolcaimers 11th studio album, Angry Cyclist is a poignant celebration of their home city. Its melody and lyrics both carry the wistfulness of responding to a place that is deeply loved, whilst fully aware of its flaws. The arrangement respects the simplicity of expression of the original, with a largely homophonic and mostly diatonic setting, with just a few moments of chromaticism or diatonic dissonance to point up the sense of nostalgia, and vocal lines that you can pour your heart into.
Vocal Ranges:
Tenor: E4 - E5
Lead: C#3 - D5
Bari: B3 - B4
Bass: E3 - A4
N.B. This arrangement is notated in treble and bass alta (i.e. sounding one octave higher than written) clefs.
