Ethel Waters first sang it at The Cotton Club night club in Harlem in 1933 and recorded it with the Dorsey Brothers' Orchestra. It has been performed by several world famous artists such as Lena Horne, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald among others.
The melody is sung by the base throughout the arrangement.
Note: The sheet music is notated in the barbershop format: Tenor (S.1) and Lead (S.2) in treble clef , Baritone (A.1) and Bass (A.2) in bass clef. The bass clef parts are sung an octave higher than written.
