Spellcaster transports listeners to the lofty stone tower of a wizened old wizard, who gazes over majestic mountains as he conjures powerful spells. This dynamic composition for Concert Band and Percussion captures the essence of magic in motion.
The main theme, set in 12/8, flows through a variety of voicings, while a quirky secondary theme in 7/8 introduces a playful element. The vibrant percussive sounds allow the percussionists to unleash their creativity, playing with marimbas and other instruments as if casting spells themselves.
