SKU: A0.803597

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Phyllis Hopper. This edition: audio, pdf. Celtic, Christmas, Folk, Holiday, Irish. Full Orchestra. 53 pages. HopSez Productions #6619663. Published by HopSez Productions (A0.803597).

The Celtic flavor of this traditional melody is created by articulations and bowings that approximate what you would hear in a Celtic band. Included are score and parts.
Time: 4 minutes
Grace notes, in Celtic music, imitate the "flutter" of the bagpipe, which has no way to stop the air from blowing (and notes from sounding) once it's started up. To repeat the same pitch or to strengthen a note, the bagpiper briefly lifts a finger, thereby interrupting the air flow, just long enough to provide the needed articulation. The grace note borrows time from the previous note, allowing the new note to sound at the written moment.
The harp is an essential part of this piece. If you are not fortunate enough to have access to a harpist, you can approximate the sound with the optional marimba part (provided), using soft mallets.
