Sonnet I Piano Method - Digital Sheet Music

This is the first in a set of three piano miniatures, which, as part of the compositional process, originally derived melodic material by setting lines from Shakespeare's Sonnets to music. In this ternary form piece, the opening section explores sequences of 'chord building'. This is followed by a middle section based on arpeggio figures, before returning to the initial ideas in inversion. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for almost all standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Other works from this Sonnet cycle, as well as the complete set, are also available via Sheet Music Plus. The full YouTube video provided is of a live performance given on 5/12/24, with the composer on piano, at All Hallows' Church, Allerton, Liverpool, England, UK (starting at 2:58, preceded by Sketch I & Fragment III, by the same composer, also available via SMP).Duration: 2 minutes 30 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
