This is a word-for-word setting of the passage from Luke in the English Standard Version (plus a Gloria Patri). Also known as Mary’s Song, and the Magnificat (from the Latin), this is one of the traditional evening canticles. My setting of the other evening canticle, Song of Simeon (the Nunc Dimittis), is also here on Score Exchange, with music very similar to this. Could be sung as a solo, by a choir, or by a congregation.
