Composed by Drake Mabry. Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Drake Mabry #3676107. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799521).Silent Durations Va (a Zen experience) is an altered percussion trio version of Silent Durations V. Instead of the drums being used as a time-keeper they are more a guardian of time. The choice of sticks and instrumentation provides the atmosphere and mood for each movement. The first movement is slow and develops the colors provided by the use of snare sticks, fingers and coins. The second movement is quicker and is only scored for triangle, maracas and sand block. The third movement is moderate in tempo and played with a diversity of sticks, mallets, beaters and brushes. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. The work is in three movements with a duration of 15'18.
