Published by Reis Luke Aquino (A0.943136).This piece was conceptualized for the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church (Baguio City, Philippines) for the Good Friday service. The text comes from a set of short poems by Ms. Nava Faith Bawayan evoking short personal impressions and reflections on each of the traditional last seven words of Christ. The music are short musical impressions in a semi-contemporary (avant-garde) style, scored for an SATB choir, Tenor and Soprano Soloists and Piano. It features call and response passages between the soloists and the choir, short canons, and easy chord clusters for certain effects. The composer has considered these especially for choirs who are immersed in the Hymn singing tradition but are expanding into a more contemporary style of music.
