John Crook (1847–1922) was the conductor and composer for the orchestra in the Duke of York’s Theatre, London. His incidental music for J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan was the standard from the first performance in December 1904 for almost the first 50 years of performances. And though it’s been eclipsed by the music for the Disney cartoon and the Broadway musical, those interested in the history of Peter Pan should find this book of interest. Directors looking to stage Peter Pan should also consider using this royalty-free score.
