Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern (Rosamunde, Princess of Cyprus) is a play by Helmina von Chézy, which is primarily remembered for the incidental music which Franz Schubert composed for it. Music and play premiered in Vienna's Theater an der Wien on 20 December 1823. This is my arrangement for horn quartet of No.4 Geisterchor (Chorus of Spirits), "In der Tiefe wohnt das Licht" (In the Deep Dwells the Light) in D major (Adagio). This music was used to accompany the brewing of some poison which was to be given to Rosamunde. Originally written for a brass sextet of 3 horns and 3 trombones, and a male chorus, it has echos of Wagner. It suits the brass quartet, in this instance 4 horns. The original is in D, I have transposed it to F to suit he horn's range.
