Sir Pepe Romero, to whom the work is dedicated, calls the work "charming, and of immediate appeal." The work is scored for solo guitar, pairs of flutes, oboes, clarinets in A, bassoons, horns in F, trumpets in C, timpani, a castanet machine, and strings (8,8,5,5,3). Clarinets and trumpets in B-flat are also included in the set for those orchestras without clarinets in A or trumpets in C.
